so i just realized that i forgot to include a vital piece of information in that last post. or maybe subconsciously i knew it would show off my white trashiness.
see, lucy sleeps in our closet. like, since she was born. like, it's her room. but with all of our clothes in it. and her crib. and that's all.
and unfortunately our closet door doesn't have a lock because apparently closet doors don't need one, unless you need to lock your child in so they can sleep. so you see my conundrum? that is why i came up with the "ghetto wrapped crib". i suppose i could have gone and bought a locking door handle and been like all my friends...but why, when i have towels and duct tape? so i guess my invention is only for people with kids sleeping in their closets. stink, that is really going to cut my sales down huh?

Desperation ='s Innovation
here's the thing.
i believe that just because your kid CAN get out of their crib
it doesn't mean they SHOULD get out of their crib.
and just because they DON'T WANT to take a nap,
it doesn't mean they don't NEED a nap.
you are either going to think that
a) i'm a genius and i just saved your life
b) i'm white trash
c) i'm a genius but also white trash
d) a terrible desperate mother
e) just a terrible mother
are you ready?
this is my invention for keeping your kid in their crib when they still need naps and to sleep at night.
warning: it's not pretty.
this is actually the end result of a few minor adjustments to the crib including...
lowering the mattress onto cans. aaahhhh. the many uses for food storage.
later when she was started using the corner to get out
i just duct taped towels in the corners and it worked like a charm.
she just keeps growing though. go figure.
so this is the latest addition. the crib bumper she didn't want IN her bed now assists in keeping HER IN bed.
that, ='s this...
and also this...
just to show you that she is still a happy girl even though she can't climb out of her crib anymore. she also looks pretty raggedy...ya know,to match her bed.
yes of course eventually she will move into a toddler bed.
but not tonight!
you're welcome.

Butterfly mobile
I'm a copy cat. My friend Margo made a beautiful butterfly mobile for her new cutie pie, and when i saw it i just had to steal it.
So I made this one for my sister's new cutie pie Claire.
If you want to be a copy cat too...here's how.
get 2 sizes of those metal wreaths from a craft store. they are actually green but you're gonna want to spray paint them white of course. i just used some fishing line to tie them together to make a bigger form.
next, you need butterflies.
lots and lots of them. i think i used around 200. i used vellum and was able to cut 5-6 at a time so it really wasn't that bad...and pretty much totally worth it.
punch holes and string fishing line through the butterflies. i did lines of 6,5,4,3,and 2 and used just a tiny bit of tape to secure them.
next, jerry rig somthing to hang it on so you can start putting it together.
add some ribbon around the edge...
and a bow...
then just hang it up for your baby to admire!
enjoy!

Dinner anyone?
Looking for a fun and interesting dinner idea? how about these cute little guys...

need directions?
make a big ol cheeseburger, wrap it in bacon weave, add hot dogs as the arms and legs...cutting slits in the ends for toes and a tail of course. cook on an oven rack at 400 degrees lightly covered with foil for 20-30 minutes until nice and juicy.
i'm on the fence with this one. do i make a "heart attack on a plate" for fun (cuz it really would be fun for the kids....and let's face it my hubby would LOVE it), or do i just laugh at it and make something with tofu... just kidding tofu is sick.
hhmmm. i have always wanted to weave bacon...
p.s. thanks for sharing Aaron!
